Sylvain Bélan was born in France in the 70’s and lives in Paris.
From the age of 18, he was drawn to image making as a powerful vehicle of expression. After studying for three years at the ESRA Film, Television, And Photography Academy, combined with internships with the video&photography department at the France Télévisions network, he turned his interest to studio photography. This approach allowed him to develop his knowledge of light, notably at the Parisian photographic studio Daylight, and to work as an assistant to renowned photographers, such as Bettina Rheims and Jean-Baptiste Mondino.
His interest in aesthetics led him naturally to the world of fashion, and to Vogue Magazine, for whom he worked as a fashion parade photographer, first using traditional black and white film, then digital techniques. This collaboration shifted towards the photography of luxury accessories, with his participation in the magazine’s newly launched website vogueparis.com.
More recently, he has moved into the world of public architecture and interior design, collaborating most notably on projects with the French Ministry of Culture. In recent years he has embraced the social media revolution, contributing his skills to alternative media events hosted by the Pernod and Orangina-Schweppes groups.
